Nominations are now open to join the Bamboo Society of Australia Board
On World Bamboo Day, 18 September 2026, BSA launched Bamboo Breakthrough: The Next Frontier 2026–2035, our 10-year roadmap for sustainable engineered bamboo in Australia. Now the work of delivering it begins, and we’re looking for people to join our Board and help make it happen.
The role
Board members help guide BSA’s strategy, advocacy and partnerships, and lead delivery of Phase 1 of the roadmap. We welcome skills in governance, finance, communications, events, stakeholder engagement, horticulture, construction or sustainability.
The commitment is around 6 hours per month, mostly online.
Previous board experience is great but not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, and desire to help bamboo take root in Australia’s future.
What you will gain
- Help put bamboo on the map in Australia
- Build valuable governance and leadership experience
- Connect with researchers, designers, builders, growers, and sustainability leaders
- Contribute to a cause that aligns climate action, innovation, and industry development
- Be part of something that could transform industries and landscapes for generations.
How to apply
- Eligibility: You must be a current financial member of BSA. Not a member yet? Join before applying.
